West County Health Centers celebrated National Health Center Week 2017 with the launch event for the New Russian River Health & Wellness Center Capital Campaign to build “The Health Center of the Future” on Friday August 18th.  CA Senator Mike McGuire and 5thDistrict Supervisor Lynda Hopkins spoke to a crowd of over 100 West County Health Centers supporters about the importance of access to medical, dental and behavioral health services in rural areas that community health centers provide.  West County Health Centers Board President, John Kornfeld spoke about patient directed care at federally qualified health centers and Consumer Board Member Focus Day of National Health Center Week.  Mary Szecsey, West County Health Centers CEO and this years “Woman of the Year” awardee nominated by Senator McGuire shared plans for the $10.47 million dollar 10,000 square foot OSHPD 3 complaint medical, dental and behavioral health facility which is scheduled to open in Guerneville in the Summer of 2019. $1.8 million (44% of goal) in private donations has been raised towards the $4.2 million fundraising goal to build the future Russian River Health & Wellness Center which will be an integrated hub that supports individuals and communities to achieve optimal health. http://www.wchealth.org/news/capital-campaign
