National Health Centers Week Celebration 2018 & Capital Campaign Event to Rebuild the Russian River Health Center

Blake speaking Blake Hooper, District Representative for Congressman Jared Huffman, delivers message of support for WCHC and National Health Centers Week

West County Health Centers celebrated National Health Center Week 2018 with the open house event for the New Russian River Health & Wellness Center Capital Campaign to build “The Health Center of the Future” on Friday, August 17th.  Blake Hopper, District Represenatative for Congressman Jared Huffman spoke to a crowd of over 100 West County Health Centers supporters about the importance of access to medical, dental and behavioral health services in rural areas that community health centers provide.  Congressman Huffmans letter of support for West County Health Centers and National Health Centers Week is below:

Dear West County Health Centers:

Congratulations on your 2018 National Health Centers Week celebration. With the many attacks on our health care systems, I want you to know how much I value our Federally Qualified Heath Clinics up and down the Northern California coast. Federally Qualified Health Centers fill an essential role in our health care system and ensure equitable and affordable access to medical, dental, and mental health care.

Thanks to your good work, residents in the second congressional district can count on a network of community health centers to provide high-quality patient care to those who need it most, regardless of their ability to pay.  From the Coastal Health Alliance in Western Marin, to the Mendocino Community Health Clinic, to Mendocino Coast Clinic, to the Open Door Community Health Centers that serve Humboldt and Del Norte counties, to the Russian River Health Clinic in Sonoma, each Center is a vital part of the network that is protecting the lives and wellbeing of tens of thousands of people that call California’s north coast home.

Given funding challenges and high demand for services coupled with the recovery from the 2015 fire, the new Russian River Health & Wellness Center is making great progress, and I know this Center will continue to be a community hub for health and wellbeing for its local residents for years to come.

Thank you for being a great home to America’s Health Care Heroes!

Warm Regards,

Member of Congress
